Learn how to report a TikTok account for impersonating you or someone else.
To report an account for posting content without authorization, you can file a DMCA takedown notice for copyright infringement. Follow the instructions in our article TikTok DMCA. There is usually overlap, with impostors misusing content from the person they’re impersonating, so it might be helpful to file both an impersonation report and a DMCA report.
How to Report a Fake TikTok Account
TikTok’s article, Report an impersonation account, provides several options for reporting fake accounts.
- To report an account within the US that is pretending to be you:
- Fill out this form using the instructions the page linked above.
- Specify the type of issue (reporting impersonation or appealing a wrongful ban for impersonation).
- Complete the rest of the form, providing all required information and proof of ID.
- Outside the US, use this form instead, following the instructions on the same page linked above.
Notes
- You can also report a fake account within the app, following these instructions from the TikTok article.
- That page also has an option for submitting an impersonation report in your web browser.
- TikTok may ask for additional information as they investigate the report. It could take some time for TikTok to review and take action on the reported account, so you might not receive immediate feedback.
