To report an account for impersonation, please follow the instructions in our article How to Report a Fake TikTok Account. There is usually overlap, with impostors misusing content from the person they’re impersonating, so it might be helpful to file both an impersonation report and a DMCA report.
Filing a false DMCA notice can have serious legal consequences, so be sure that you have a legitimate claim to the content before submitting a takedown request. Learn more about DMCA notices.
Before sending TikTok a DMCA notice:
- Identify the content that you want to report as a copyright violation.
- Read TikTok's Help Center Copyright page.
- Read TikTok's Copyright Policy page.
- Decide whether you want to report the content through the TikTok app or through an online form.
To report the violation with TikTok's online form (recommended):
- Follow the instructions and prompts to complete the form.
- Provide all necessary information, including your contact info, the infringing content's URL, and your proof of ownership of the copyrighted material.
- Include a statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- Submit the form, and TikTok will review your request and take appropriate action.
To report the violation with the TikTok app:
- Go to the video that contains the infringing content and tap the Share icon.
- Tap the Report option.
- Select the Intellectual Property (IP) option.
- Choose the type of IP violation that you are reporting (copyright, trademark, etc.).
- Follow the in-app instructions to report the content.
